Iavnana (original title: იავნანა, Georg. For "Lullaby") is a Georgian film by director Nana Janelidze from 1994. The script is based on the story "iawnanam ra hkmna" (German: What has Iawnana done) by Georgian writer Iakob Gogebaschwili .

action

Little Keto, the only child of a wealthy Georgian family in the 19th century, is kidnapped by two Lesgian men (see Lekianoba ). The parents find their daughter again after years, but she cannot remember her childhood or her past. Since Keto remains silent and her mother's attempts to restore her memory are in vain, it is decided to bring Keto back to Dagestan , where the kidnappers had brought her. The desperate mother can do nothing but sing a lullaby ( Iavnana ) to her farewell . Can the mother's song help her find her real family, mother tongue, her own country and herself again?
