Ibanda is a town in the Western Region in Uganda . It is the capital of the Ibanda district and is a parish within the district. Ibanda has had the status of a municipality since 2015.

Kotido is approximately 70 kilometers northwest of Mbarara , the largest city in the Ankole sub- region . The city is also approximately 290 kilometers southwest of Kampala , Uganda's capital and largest city.
