Ibanda is a district in western Uganda . The capital of the district is Ibanda .

The district Ibanda borders in the west and north on the district Kamwenge , in the east on the district Kiruhura , in the south on the districts Mbarara and Buhweju and in the southwest on the district Rubirizi .

history

Ibanda District was established on July 1, 2005 when Ibanda County, which was formerly part of Mbarara District, was given full district status.

Demographics

The population is estimated to be 277,300 in 2020. In the same year, 56.4 percent of them lived in urban regions and 43.6 percent in rural regions.
