Sironko is a district in eastern Uganda . The capital of the district is Sironko .

location

The district of Sironko borders in the north with the district Bulambuli , in the northeast with the districts Kapchorwa and Kween , in the east with Kenya , in the southeast with the district Bududa , in the southwest with the district Mbale and in the west with the district Bukedea .

Demographics

The population is estimated to be 274,300 in 2020. In the same year, 14 percent of them lived in urban regions and 86 percent in rural regions.

economy

The main activity is agriculture with an emphasis on food crops such as beans, peanuts, sorghum, millet, cassava, potatoes and sweet potatoes. Coffee and cotton are the most important cash crops. Fruits and vegetables grown in the district include passion fruit, tomatoes, onions, and cabbage.
