economy

Agriculture is the mainstay of the district's economy, as is most of the other regions in the country. The fertile soils and the good climate allow sufficient products for personal consumption and surpluses for sale. However, due to the remoteness of the district and mountainous terrain, bringing the products to market remains a challenge and an obstacle to increasing production.
