Busia is a district in southeast Uganda with 228,181 inhabitants. The capital is Busia of the same name .

The district was spun off from Tororo District on March 20, 1997 . It is subdivided into the Samia-Bugwe district, which in turn is divided into 10 sub-districts and one urban district. These in turn are divided into a total of 34 municipalities and 474 individual municipalities.

The main agricultural production goods are coffee , peanuts , cotton and soy . Millet , corn , sorghum , sweet potatoes and cassava are other goods that are mostly produced in subsistence farming . The average size of the farms is 2.5  ha .

The most common languages ​​are Samia-Lugwe , Ateso , Swahili , Lugisu and Luganda .
