Rubirizi is a district in western Uganda . The capital of the district is Rubirizi .

location

The Rubirizi District is bordered by the Kasese District to the north, the Kamwenge District to the northeast, the Ibanda District to the east, the Buhweju District to the southeast , the Bushenyi District to the south, the Rukungiri District to the southwest and the Lake Edward across from the Democratic Republic of the Congo .

history

The district was created in 2015 from parts of the Bushenyi district.

Demographics

The population is estimated at 144,100 for 2020. In the same year, 13.4 percent of them lived in urban regions and 86.6 percent in rural regions.
