Buikwe is a district in central Uganda . The capital of the district is Buikwe . The Mabira forest is located in Buikwe.

location

The Buikwe district is bordered by the Kayunga district to the north, the Jinja district to the east, the Buvuma district to the southeast , Tanzania to the south and the Mukono district to the west .

history

The Buikwe district was created in 2009 from parts of the Mukono district.

Demographics

The population is estimated at 474,100 for 2020. In the same year, 29.2 percent of them lived in urban regions and 70.8 percent in rural regions.
