Moyo is a district in northern Uganda . The capital of the district is Moyo .

location

Moyo District is located in the northwest corner of Uganda in the West Nile sub-region. The district borders South Sudan to the north and east , Adjumani district to the south across the waters of the White Nile, and Yumbe district to the west . The southern Sudanese states of Central Equatoria and Eastern Equatoria form the northern border, and a road runs from Moyo to the town of Kajo Keji in Central Equatoria.

Demographics

The population is estimated at 109,500 for 2020. In the same year, 11.1 percent of them lived in urban regions and 88.9 percent in rural regions.

economy

Subsistence farming and animal husbandry are the main economic activities in the district. In recent years the district has stagnated in isolation when the second Sudanese civil war raged in the north and the uprising of the Lord's Resistance Army made the direct route south to the state capital Kampala dangerous. The district has taken in large numbers of South Sudanese refugees who fled the fighting in their country.
