Charles Rich, 4th Earl of Warwick

Charles Rich, 4th Earl of Warwick (* 1616 , † 14. August 1673 ) was an English nobleman and politician .

He was the second son of Robert Rich, 2nd Earl of Warwick , from his first marriage to Frances Hatton.

From 1645 to 1653 he was a Burgess for Sandwich in Kent and from 1658 to 1659 as Knight of the Shire for Essex a member of the House of Commons . In the English Civil War he sided with Parliament .

When his older brother Robert Rich, 3rd Earl of Warwick , died in 1659 , he inherited his title of nobility as 4th Earl of Warwick and 6th Baron Rich and thereby became a member of the House of Lords .

In 1641 he had married Lady Mary Boyle (1625–1678), a younger daughter of Richard Boyle, 1st Earl of Cork . With her he had a son, Charles Rich, Lord Rich (1643–1664), who in 1662 married Lady Anne Cavendish, daughter of William Cavendish, 3rd Earl of Devonshire , but died childless two years later.

Since he left no descendants, his title of nobility fell on his death in 1673 to his cousin Robert Rich , 2nd Earl of Holland .
