Kamwenge is a district in western Uganda . The capital of the district is Kamwenge .

location

The district of Kamwenge is bordered to the north by the district of Kyenjojo , to the northeast by the districts of Kyegegwa and the district of Kiruhura , to the east by the districts of Ibanda , the district of Kitagwenda in the south, the district of Kasese in the west by the district of Bunyangabu and the district of Kabarole in the northwest .

Demographics

The population is estimated to be 335,200 in 2020. In the same year, 14.3 percent of them lived in urban regions and 84.7 percent in rural regions. The predominant ethnic group in the district are the Bakiga , followed by Bafumbira . Other tribes are the indigenous Batoro , Batagwenda , Banyarwanda and several others.

The local economy is dominated by agriculture and fishing.
