Nakaseke is a district in central Uganda . The capital of the district is Butalangu . The largest city is Nakaseke .

location

The district of Nakaseke borders in the north and northeast on the district Nakasongola , in the southeast on the district Luweero , in the south on the district Wakiso and in the southwest on the district Mityana . The Kiboga district and the Kyankwanzi district lie to the west and the Masindi district in the northwest. Butalangu, the location of the district headquarters, is approximately 66 kilometers north of Kampala , the capital of Uganda and the largest city in the country.

The population is estimated to be 234,600 in 2020. In the same year, 20 percent of them lived in urban regions and 80 percent in rural regions.

economy

Agriculture is the main economic activity in the counties. This includes growing coffee, corn, beans, bananas, cassava , sweet potatoes, vegetables like tomatoes, cabbage, and fruits like pineapples and mangoes. Fishing in the swamps of the region, rearing cattle (for meat and milk), goats and chickens are some of the other activities. Around 90 percent of farmers use traditional farming methods. Nakaseke District has seven health facilities, including a 100-bed public hospital, Nakaseke Hospital, which is administered by the Ugandan Ministry of Health. There is also a community hospital in Kiwoko, the Kiwoko Hospital, which is administered by the Church of Uganda.

Access to clean water is possible through a network of boreholes and protected springs. One of the major health problems is the high prevalence of AIDS in the district. In March 2014, the district's prevalence rate of the disease was estimated to be around 8%, compared to the national average of 6.5%. The Nakaseke district thus has one of the highest HIV / AIDS prevalence rates of any district in the entire country.
