Mityana is a district ( district ) in Central Uganda with 269,763 inhabitants. Like almost all districts of Uganda , it is named after its capital.

The Mityana district was newly formed on July 1, 2005 (along with 13 other districts) by separating the counties Mityana and Busujju from the neighboring district of Mubende .
