Lira is a district ( district ) in northern Uganda with 757,763 inhabitants. Like almost all districts of Uganda , it is named after its capital, Lira . The predominant ethnic group are the Langi .

history

For a long time, the district was spared the rebels of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). These only devastated the northern districts of Kitgum and Pader . From 2002 onwards, there was a large displacement of the population within the district.

climate
