The Iceland Crisis Response Unit ( Icelandic Íslenska Friðargæslan ) is a special unit that reports to the Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The unit was set up in the 1990s to allow Iceland to participate in peace missions . The Iceland Crisis Response Unit is not a military force as Iceland does not have a regular army . The tasks also include reconnaissance missions and support missions for reconstruction work and in humanitarian emergencies. The approximately 200 members are recruited from the police and the coast guard . So far you have been involved in Operation Enduring Freedom , as part of ISAF in Afghanistan and as part of KFOR in Kosovo .

Only light civil vehicles such as the Nissan Patrol and vehicles from Santana Motor and Iveco Trakker are in use. Handguns are also in use, most of which come from the Norwegian armed forces . They include the HK G3 or the Diemaco C7 .
