I love the Gate of Heavenly Peace in Beijing ( Chinese  我 愛 北京 天安門  /  我 爱 北京 天安门 , Pinyin Wǒ ài Běijīng Tiān'ānmén ) is a nursery rhyme from the People's Republic of China , which was written during the Cultural Revolution . Jin Guolin wrote the lyrics, Jin Yueling the music.

The Gate of Heavenly Peace is located on the north side of Tian'anmen Square and is the main entrance to the Forbidden City , the former Imperial Palace in Beijing . This is where Mao Zedong proclaimed the People's Republic of China on October 1, 1949 .

The communist propaganda song is known to many Chinese from school lessons.
