Ida honor place

In memory of the actress , director and theater director and honorary citizen of the city of Hamburg Ida Ehre , the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg decided in 1999 to name a place after her in order to honor her life's work and to honor her services to the cultural reconstruction of Hamburg after the Wars to remember.

For this purpose, the part of Gerhart-Hauptmann-Platz previously occupied south of Mönckebergstrasse was rededicated to Ida-Ehre-Platz . The square is delimited to the south by Speersort street and the Zeitverlag building there . The renaming officially came into effect on the 100th birthday of Ida Ehre, July 9, 2000.
