Ida Masius

Ida Masius (born August 3, 1824 in Ludwigslust as Ida Frese ; † February 4, 1897 in Schwerin ) enabled the establishment of the first children's hospital in Mecklenburg .

biography

At the age of 28, Masius became head of the Schwerin women's association for nursing . In 1855 the association took over the Augustenstift zu Schwerin , a retirement and nursing home founded three years earlier by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II .

Thanks to good relations with the grand ducal family, she managed to establish the church Anna Hospital Foundation in 1866 . The funds from the foundation enabled the opening of the Anna Hospital in Schwerin, which was the first hospital specially for children in Mecklenburg. The Anna-Hospital, which is no longer used as a hospital, has housed the Diakonie-Sozialstation Dom / Schloss gGmbH and the Evangelical Integrative School according to Montessori Schwerin since 1997 .
