The Idaho Falls Temple from a distance

The Idaho Falls Idaho Temple is the eighth temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). It stands in Idaho Falls and was the first Mormon temple in the US state of Idaho and the first with only one tower. This is 44 meters high and, like most temples of this denomination, bears an angel Moroni . The temple has 8,564 square feet of floor space, four endowment rooms and nine sealing rooms .

After the announcement on March 3, 1937 and the groundbreaking ceremony on December 19, 1939, the building itself was completed in September 1941. The interior work slowed down, however, due to the general scarcity of funds during the Second World War. The temple was consecrated on September 23, 1945 by George Albert Smith .

Originally the temple was called Idaho Falls Temple , but after 2000 the church introduced uniform naming rules, which is why it is now called Idaho Falls Idaho Temple .
