Idea management

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The idea management ( English IdeaManagement ) the generation, collection and selection includes appropriate ideas for improvements and innovations. The aim of idea management is to mobilize performance reserves by promoting a creative working atmosphere in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the organization with the involvement of all employees. The idea management supplements the innovation management , in which usually only part of the workforce is involved.

history

The term idea management was created in 1975 by Ing. Siegfried Spahl (cf. Spahl: Handbuch Suggestion system. Praxis des Ideenmanagements, Verlag moderne Industrie, Munich 1975) and was initially only used as a synonym for the company suggestion system (BVW). In the meantime, in the specialist literature and in business practice, the view has gained acceptance that a modern idea management system combines the company suggestion system with the continuous improvement process (CIP) (idea management = BVW + CIP).

definition

Idea management is a generic term for participatory (employee-including) optimization systems that aim to use the potential of ideas from all employees (not just that of the managers and experts) in an organization in order to strengthen their competitiveness. Terms used in practice for these two complementary systems include:

  • Company suggestion scheme (BVW) with spontaneous brainstorming and a specific processing sequence (e.g. central, decentralized, partially decentralized processing)

Further development of idea management

If used correctly, idea management is a means of promoting innovation , saving costs and motivating employees . In addition, idea management can contribute to an open corporate culture characterized by trust . One of the remaining central goals is to improve competitiveness, which also includes demonstrable savings. Idea management consists at least of the two employee-integrating optimization systems BVW and CIP.

Future BVW models can also be team , auction , market or wiki models in addition to central, decentralized or semi-central processing . These models can enhance the creativity of all employees, e.g. B. better include high potentials, customers and suppliers in the idea management.

Training can also be integrated into the knowledge management extension . In the modern interpretation, idea management also claims to be a personnel development tool. About this u. a. the competence of employees can also be developed ( competence management ). Idea management in combination with tools from the human resources area expand the possibilities for corporate development. This gives the employee the option to further qualify .

In order for ideas to find their way into the organization quickly, an uncomplicated entry into an idea management database is necessary. With so-called kiosk terminals , this can also be made possible for employees without their own computer workstation .

New ideas can also come from customers, so a combination with complaint and feedback management is also conceivable.
