The iesy Hessen GmbH & Co. KG was from 1999 to 2007, existing regional cable operator in Hessen , based in Darmstadt . The company was created in 1999 when the Hessian cable network was outsourced from Deutsche Telekom, which was required by regulations . Iesy started out under the name Hessen Kabel GmbH , in 2000 the brand name eKabel was used before the company was renamed Iesy. Most of the employees were recruited from Deutsche Telekom. The first investor was Klesch & Company Ltd. based in London, which took over 65% of Hessen Kabel GmbH on July 1, 2000 at a price of DM 2 billion. This was the second successful sale of a cable network after the cable network in NRW. At that time, 1.3 million customers in Hesse were supplied with cable television.
The company offered analog and digital cable television , telephone connections and high-speed Internet access. The broadband networks were originally set up by Deutsche Telekom. iesy and ish have been part of Unity Media since November 2005 . From spring 2006 all Tele Columbus customers in Hessen should automatically be iesy customers; ish and iesy products have been aligned, but marketed under separate names. On May 22, 2007, the regional cable network operators iesy, ish (NRW) - both network level 3 and Tele Columbus West GmbH (network level 4 cable TV provider) were merged to form the new Unity Media brand.
In addition to the classic analog and digital television offerings, the company also offered high-speed Internet access and telephone connections with back channel capability in some expansion areas.
The fact that the name is identical with a system house in Meinerzhagen means that this system house is sometimes mistaken for the legal successor. The system house has taken over the trademark rights and the international domains. The legal successor of the limited partnership, however, remains Unitymedia Hessen GmbH & Co. KG , which now operates as Vodafone Hessen GmbH & Co. KG and belongs to Vodafone .
