Ondříček was a violin student of Šimon Josef Antonín Pergler (1792-1834), who worked as a violin teacher in Nowa Huta from 1809 . From 1825 he was assistant to his teacher and a member of his chapel. Two of his ten children continued the musical family tradition: the violinist and conductor Jan Ondříček , father of the composer František Ondříček , and František Ondříček (1847–65), who attended the organ school in Prague but died of tuberculosis at the age of eighteen.
