František Ondříček
František Ondříček (born April 29, 1857 in Prague , † April 12, 1922 in Milan ) was a Czech violinist and composer .
Life
Ondříček came from a musical family. His grandfather Ignác Ondříček (1807–71) was an active amateur musician, his father was the violinist and conductor Jan Ondříček . His brothers Emanuel and Stanislav Ondříček were also known as violinists. From the age of six, František Ondříček took violin lessons at the Prague Conservatory with Anton Bennewitz . 1877-78 he studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Lambert Massart .
In 1879 Ondříček became solo violinist at the Pasdeloup Concerts . On October 14, 1883, he played the world premiere of Antonín Dvořák's Violin Concerto in Prague . He then gave concerts in London, Budapest and Vienna, toured Russia and North America and was made an honorary member of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome.
In 1909, together with Siegfried Mittelmann , he published the New Method for Acquiring the Mastery of Violin Playing on an anatomical-physiological basis . In the 1910s Ondrícek headed the New Vienna Conservatory for several years , after the First World War he led a master class for violin at the Prague Conservatory.
