Baron Ignaz Stupan von Ehrenstein , also Ignaz Stuppan von Ehrenstein (* 1780 ; † May 12, 1840 ) was an Austrian councilor .

Life

Ignaz Stupan von Ehrenstein came from an old noble family who came from Graubünden to Styria several centuries ago.

He was the son of Felix Matthäus Stupan von Ehrenstein (1743-1800), also an Austrian councilor. His grandfather was Baron Anton Maria Stupan von Ehrenstein .

In 1801, after studying law, he began his career in the public service in a district office and by 1810 had already achieved the position of a government councilor. In 1820 he was promoted to the Real Councilor in the Court Chancellery in Vienna and headed the department for the provinces " Austria above the Enns and Austria below the Enns " in the highest instance under Anton Friedrich Mittrowsky von Mittrowitz and Nemischl .

With his death, the noble line of the Stupan von Ehrenstein died out.

Awards

Ignaz Stupan von Ehrenstein was a knight of the Hungarian Order of St. Stephen .
