Igor Anatoljewitsch Komarow ( Russian Игорь Анато́льевич Комаро́в; born May 25, 1964 in Engels , Saratov Oblast , RSFSR , USSR ) is a Russian politician, industrialist, financier and manager. From September 2018 he is the authorized representative of the Russian President in the Volga Federal District .  

Career

Komarow graduated from Lomonosov University in Moscow in 1986 as an "economist". Between 1992 and 2002 he held senior positions in various credit and financial institutions in Russia ("Inkombank", "National Reserve Bank", "Sberbank"). From 2002 to 2008 he was deputy general director for economic and financial matters in the largest Russian mining company " Nornickel ".

In October 2008, Komarov became an advisor to the general director of the state company " Rostec ", which was founded only a year ago and specializes in the development, production and export of industrial high-tech products for the civil and military sectors.

In May 2009 Komarov was appointed vice president of the largest Russian passenger car manufacturer, AwtoWas . Only 4 months later he took over the presidency of this company. He pushed ahead with radical reforms in the auto industry, including the production of the Soviet passenger car WAS-2107, which is popular in most CIS countries .

In October 2013, Komarov was appointed deputy head of the Russian space agency Roscosmos by order of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev .

In March 2014 Komarov was entrusted by the Russian government with the management of the United Missile and Space Corporation. On January 21, 2015, he finally got the chief post of Roscosmos.

On May 24, 2018, President Vladimir Putin released Komarov from his position as head of Rosmos and on September 7 of the same year appointed him plenipotentiary representative of the Russian President in the Volga Federal District. In the meantime (July to September 2018) he was Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia.
