Igor Wladimirowitsch Wolkow ( Russian Игорь Владимирович Волков ; born January 24, 1983 in Ufa , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who was last under contract with Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk in the Continental Hockey League .
Career
Igor Volkov began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Salawat Yulayev Ufa , for whose professional team he was active in the super league from 2000 to 2005 . He finished the 2004/05 season at HK Dynamo Moscow , with whom he became Russian champion . Following this success, the winger returned to Ufa, for which he spent another three seasons in the Superliga and with which he was also champion in 2008. For the 2008/09 season , the Russian moved to HK Awangard Omsk from the newly founded Continental Hockey League . He played for Omsk for two years before signing again with his hometown club Salawat Yulayev Ufa before the 2010/11 season . During the season he joined the HK Awangard Omsk one more time.
In May 2013 he moved with Alexander Nesterow to HK Spartak Moscow , where Volkov was appointed assistant captain. After the 2013/14 season, Spartak withdrew from the KHL game operations and Volkov was then committed by HK CSKA Moscow . For CSKA he was used in 39 KHL games, in which he collected 9 scorer points. He then moved to HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk , for which he was active until November 2015, before he was exchanged for Yevgeny Lapenkow from Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk . There he was released from his contract two weeks later.
