Ihosy (district)
Ihosy is one of three districts in the region Ihorombe in Madagascar . The main town of this district is Ihosy .
Mining
The district is rich in minerals. So were at Ilakaka sapphire and chrysoberyl in, Zazafotsy ruby , sapphire, Heliodorus , and in Ambia spinel found. Further gemstone finds with an unspecified deposit in Ihosy are aquamarine , the chrysoberyl variety alexandrite , various garnets and tourmalines , the quartz varieties amethyst , rose quartz and smoky quartz , topaz and zircon .

Ihosy is one of three districts in the Ihorombe region, in the former Fianarantsoa province in Madagascar. In 2001, almost 106,591 people lived in Ihosy on an area of 17,358 km². The Isalo National Park is located in the west of the district.
