Your friend, the Bandit is a 1914 American silent film comedy directed by Charlie Chaplin . It is the only Chaplin film that is considered lost .

In this farce , Charlie Chaplin plays a bandit who overpowers Count De Beans on the way to a party at the Miss Mabel De Rocks estate. He puts on his clothes, accepts the invitation and is admitted to Mabel's house. Various mishaps occur there and he causes chaos among the lordly present. Eventually the Keystone Cops appear and arrest the bandit.

Filming for your friend the bandit began on May 11, 1914 under the working title The Italian and ended on May 18, 1914. On June 4, 1914, the film was released in theaters.
It was later published under the title Mabel's Flirtation .
criticism
Moving Picture World called the 1914 film a farce that was a little thin, but contained all the chaos that makes a farce. "It will amuse and laugh, and can be considered solid, if not remarkable, entertainment."
For Bioscope , the film was a "lively farce."
