The Evangelical Reformed Church in Ihrerfeld , a place in the East Frisian community of Westoverledingen , was built in 1907/08.

history

The village of Ihrerfeld originated in the 18th century as a colony in the Heidfeldern on the sand ridge between the moor and Hustede. It was initially assigned to the parish of Ihrhove. On March 1, 1907, an independent parish was founded and a pastorei with a chapel was finally built between 1907 and 1908, while a cemetery had existed for some time. The church was inaugurated on June 29, 1908. In 1992/93 the church was renovated and provided with heating. In 2010 the parish had 1200 members.

Description and equipment

Above the entrance portal on the west side there is an inscription: “Blessed are those who hear and keep God's word.” The interior is kept simple according to the Reformed tradition and impresses with the simple design of the walls and the large, clear windows that offer plenty of light let into church. The gallery rests on narrow columns. The wooden stalls in two rows were renewed in the early 1990s. The opening words of the Luther song " Preserve us, Lord, by your word " are written on a wall hanging between two yellow-blue windows . In front of it is the wooden pulpit. One of the most important items of equipment is a Bible with a dedication by Empress Auguste Victoria from 1908. The two bells were cast in 1930 and 1950. The organ is a work by Emil Hammer Orgelbau from 1916. The instrument has seven registers , which are distributed over two manuals and a pedal.
