The Lutheran Christ Church in Völlenerkönigsfehn , municipality of Westoverledingen ( East Friesland ), was built in 1907.

History and description of the building

Völlenerkönigsfehn originated after Völlenerfehn around 1800. The place got its name from the fact that the settlement took place on the moor belonging to the crown. The village is a mainly populated in the 19th century Moor colony , in ecclesiastical terms Völlen was assigned.

In 1905 an independent daughter congregation was established in Völlenerkönigsfehn. Two years later the Christ Church with an attached rectory was built. In 1952, the congregation had the church completely renovated and redesigned. The building received an apse with a window picture of the risen Christ and the beamed ceiling was decorated with central Bible verses.

Building description and equipment

Führer organ behind a historic prospectus

The church is a rectangular hall church that has elements of historicism . The square bell tower is finished with a pyramid roof and is connected to the nave by an entrance hall. The south gable side of the church is decorated with eleven slender white blind niches that rise to the center and fill the entire gable triangle. Because of the rectory built directly on the east side, into which a round arched passage leads, this side of the church has no windows. In the west wall there are small round windows below and above them in pairs of pointed arch windows.

A flat wooden beam ceiling has been drawn into the interior. The simple church stalls leave a central aisle free, which leads to the altar area, which is one step higher. A pointed triumphal arch provides a view of the cafeteria , which is decorated by pointed arch niches, and the round window of the apse with stained glass on the otherwise windowless north side. On the right side is the wooden octagonal pulpit on a small foot. It is equipped with fittings and profiles and is accessed via a pulpit staircase.

The organ was built into the case of the predecessor organ from 1907 (Furtwängler & Hammer) between 1987 and 1989. It is a work of the organ building workshop Alfred Führer from Wilhelmshaven and has six stops on a manual and pedal.
