Iittala is a town in the municipality of Hämeenlinna in the Kanta-Häme region in southern Finland .

geography

The place Iittala is on the railway line Riihimäki - Tampere (the railway to Helsinki was built in the 1860s) and was the center of the former municipality Kalvola .

history

In 1940 the Iittala railway accident occurred . The place belonged to the municipality of Kalvola until it merged with Hämeenlinna in 2009.
