Iliaş II. Rareş , also Ilie , (* 1531; † January 1562 ) was the eldest son of Petru Rareş . He reigned as Prince , the Principality of Moldova on 3 September 1546 to the task his rule on 11 June 1551. He was succeeded by his brother Ştefan VI. Rareș after. Iliaș grew up at the court of the Ottoman Empire and knew the luxury that prevailed there, which he missed in the Principality of Moldova. He was given the name Mehmed and the governorship of Silistria was given. He died in exile in Turkey in January 1562.
