Ilias Yassin Essaoudi (born on September 25, 1989 in Offenbach am Main ) is a German professional light middleweight boxer , also known as super welterweight.

Life

Essaoudi started martial arts at the age of 18. He started out in Thai boxing . In this sport he became German champion in the class up to 70 kg. With 40 wins from 48 fights, he had a good record in Thai boxing and K-1 .

In 2013, Ilias decided to make the leap to the pros after winning only four amateur boxing matches. On June 1, 2013, he won his professional debut with a knockout victory over Milan Ruso in the first round. Another win against Josef Holub followed .

In the following two years, Ilias Essaoudi had no professional fights. He married Eda Essaoudi, who is also a professional boxer, and opened a martial arts studio.

In August 2015, the light middleweight made his comeback in professional boxing. He beat Alexander Nikolic in the first round knockout. On December 20, 2015, he won the international German championship according to the version of the BDF ( Bund Deutscher Faustkäufer ) by knockout in round three. This was followed by five more victories, four of them by knockout. Among other things, he won the European title of the World Boxing Union (WBU) by knocking out Sabri Göcmen .

Most recently he secured his first world title in super welterweight according to the WBU version against Chris Herrmann , whom Essaoudi defeated by knockout in the second round. Ilias was the first Dorstener to win a world championship in professional boxing after the German and European championships.
