Iliu persis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Iliu persis (Greek Ἰλίου πέρσις , Ilíou pérsis "Destruction of Troy") was an epic poem of the so-called epic cycle , which portrayed the events of the Trojan War not dealt with by Homer in Iliad and Odyssey . The theme of the Iliu persis was the conquest of Troy by the Greeks. According to Proclus ' Chrestomathie , which gives a summary of the plot, the author of the epic , which is only preserved in fragments , was Arktinos of Miletus . The subject can be found in other literary works, for example in the second book of Virgil's Latin epic Aeneid , which is therefore also referred to as Iliu persis in the context of this work .
