Ilja Bela Schulmann (also Ilya Benzianovich Schulman; Russian Илья Бенцианович Шульман ; born November 30, 1922 in Gomel / Belarus; † January 13, 2014 in Bochum ) was a Soviet interpreter.

Schulmann was born in Belarus to a Jewish family of German origin and wanted to become a German teacher. After the beginning of the war between Germany and the Soviet Union, he came to the Red Army as a German interpreter and as a first lieutenant with their 1st Ukrainian Front (290th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 32nd Guards Rifle Corps) on May 7, 1945 in front of the gates of Radebeul . Due to his contribution to the surrender of the city to the Soviet troops at the end of the Second World War without a fight , he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Radebeul in 1985.
