Ilja Venäläinen (born September 27, 1980 in Kuopio ) is a Finnish football player who is currently under contract with Kuopion PS . He plays in the position of the striker .

Venäläinen began his career in the youth of Kuopion PS , for whom he later played six seasons in the professional field before moving to FF Jaro in 2004 . However, he stayed there for only one year and moved to FC KooTeePee for the 2005 season , for which he scored thirteen goals in 49 games in 2005 and 2006. For the 2007 season he returned to his hometown club Kuopion PS in the second-class Ykkönen , with whom he managed to return directly to the Veikkausliiga . With twelve goals, he was significantly involved.

Venäläinen completed twelve international matches for the Finnish U-21 national team and was also used by interim coach Olli Huttunen on February 9, 2011 in the 1-1 draw against Belgium , where he came on in the 83rd minute for midfield engine Tim Sparv .
