Olavi "Olli" Huttunen (born August 4, 1960 in Kajaani ) is a Finnish football coach and former football goalkeeper .

In November 2010 he coached the Finnish national team and was replaced after just one game (8-0 win over San Marino) by interim coach Markku Kanerva , who in turn had to give way to the current (as of August 2011) coach Mixu Paatelainen after only two games .

Career

Huttunen only played for Valkeakosken Haka in Finland . With the club he won the Finnish championship in 1995. He also won three cup wins with the club in Finland. He played 60 international matches for the Finnish national team .

Huttunen is considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in Finnish football history. He has been voted Footballer of the Year twice in Finland.

After finishing his career as an active player, he moved to the coaching bench of his home club as an assistant to Keith Armstrong . When he left the club at the end of the 2001 season, Huttunen was his successor and led the club to a championship and two cup wins.

In 2009 he left Valkeakoski to initially work as a goalkeeping coach for the Finnish national team. He soon became an assistant coach alongside the Scots Stuart Baxter . When he resigned after a bad start in the European Championship qualification for 2012 (three defeats in three games), the Finnish association appointed Huttunen as national coach. However, he only held this position for one international match (8-0 win over San Marino).

In 2012 he took over the coaching position at the Finnish first division club Vaasan PS and in 2013 reached third place in the Veikkausliiga with this club .
