Illa das Esculturas de Pontevedra
The Illa das Esculturas de Pontevedra (German: Island of Sculptures near Pontevedra ), also called Illa das Esculturas , is a sculpture park on the Lérez River in the immediate vicinity of the A Xunqueira campus of the University of Vigo in Pontevedra , Galicia in Spain .
The sculpture park was planned as part of a leisure and green space facility and opened in 1999. The sculpture park extends over an area of 70,000 m². Twelve contemporary Spanish and international artists were asked to create a work of art, most of them doing their work as Land Art .
