The Illinois State Route 60 (in short IL 60 ) is a state highway in the US state of Illinois , the West-South East direction is in.

The State Route begins on Illinois State Route 120 in Volo and ends after 17 miles in Lake Forest on US Highway 41 .

After turning off Illinois State Route 120, IL 60 runs southeast. To the west of Mundelein , the road meets State Routes 83 and 176 . Together with the IL 83, the State Route forms a bypass around the city and passes Diamond Lake in the northeast. In the north of Vernon Hills the two roads separate again and shortly afterwards the IL 60 meets US Highway 45 . Before crossing the Des Plaines River, it crosses Illinois State Route 21 and to the east of Mettawa the road passes Interstate 94 , which in this section forms the Tri-State Tollway . After passing under the Milwaukee District / North Line , the IL 60 meets State Route 43 before ending after 28 kilometers on US Highway 41 in the west of Lake Forest.
