history

Originally the road led from Pike Station (near the intersection of US 54 and IL 96 ) to Griggsville. In the early 1930s, the section south of Pittsfield was added to US 54 and in 1964 the section to Mount Sterling was finally designated IL 107. Since the construction of the US 36 freeway in 1995, which later became I-72, the US 54 and IL 107 have started at the same intersection.
