The Illinois State Route 5 (short IL 5 ) is a state highway in the US state of Illinois , the West-South East direction is in.

The State Route begins on US Highway 67 in Rock Island and ends after 25 kilometers east of Silvis on Interstates 80 and 88 and on Illinois State Route 92 .

From the junction with US 67, the IL 5 runs parallel to the Rock River in an easterly direction and meets the route of Interstate 74 and US Highway 6 in the south of Moline . The State Route runs along the southern outskirts as the John Deere Expressway . In Silvis it is crossed by Illinois State Route 84 and leaves the city together with State Route 92 in a northeasterly direction. The IL 5 merges with the I-80 at the intersection with the Interstate 88, while the IL 92 follows the route of the I-88.
