The Illinois State Route 84 (in short IL 84 ) is a state highway in the US state of Illinois , which runs north-south direction. The road forms part of its course the Illinois section of the Great River Road , which runs along the Mississippi .

The State Route begins on US Highway 6 south of Colona and ends 151 kilometers south of Hazel Green on Wisconsin State Route 80 .

84 east of Colona crosses the IL to Green River and meets in Silvis on the Illinois State Route 5 and uses to the intersection at the 1st Street the route of State Route 92 . The road leaves Silvis in a northerly direction parallel to the Mississippi. West of Rapids City it meets Interstate 80 and north of Cordova the IL 84 passes the Quad Cities nuclear power plant . To the south of Fulton , the State Route is crossed by US Highway 30 and meets Illinois State Route 136 in the center of the city .

In Savanna, the IL 84 shares the route with US Highway 52 and Illinois State Route 64 and then crosses the Mississippi Palisades State Park . Between Elizabeth Township and Rawlins Township , the State Route uses the route of US Highway 20 , before ending south of Hazel Green on the Wisconsin border and merging into Wisconsin State Route 80.
