Illkofen (Barbing)

Illkofen is a district of the municipality of Barbing in the district of Regensburg in Bavaria with 414 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2013). The Danube flows past the northern edge of the village.

history

The village is characterized by the church of St. Martin with its strikingly shaped tower. The parish is an original parish and can look back on 1200 years of history.

The formerly independent municipality of Illkofen was incorporated into the municipality of Barbing on January 1, 1978.

Buildings

  • Catholic branch church St. Martin : The choir and the basement of the tower are in Romanesque style. The front nave and the octagonal upper floor of the tower with dome and lantern date from the end of the 17th century. In 1933 the nave with the large organ gallery was enlarged.
