In the interior of the earth nothing rages

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nothing rages inside the earth is a volume of poetry by Jürg Federspiel . It was published in 2000 by Waldgut Verlag in Frauenfeld .

content

In the interior of the earth, nothing rages consists of 42 poems, some of which were previously published in other works by Federspiel. With the exception of Lullaby , the poems contained in the out-of-print volume of poems Suddenly published by Waldgut Verlag in 1993 are also contained in this volume. Thematically, the poems are similar to Federspiel's prose, travels to the USA and Latin America are taken up again, and his main motifs of death, destruction and the lack of prospects for people in the face of fate are taken up again. In the poem Die Umkehr it says programmatically: «The power of fate / drives into the one-way street / kills suicide / blinds the pigeons and the lame / destroys the ruins of Troy / undermines the catacombs / x-rays the victims / of Hiroshima."

style

Federspiel's poems are not rhymed and have no fixed meter. It is noticeable that a large part of the poems is a transitional form to prose. Other poems, however, are also inspired by concrete poetry . Peter Rüedi from Weltwoche did not describe the poems as "turned or chiseled pieces of art of the lyrical form, but rather as rather crude mouth-throws".

criticism

“In Federspiel's texts, there is no principle of hope when God is turned away. Nevertheless, they are hopeless but not hopeless. Hate cries out for absent love, and death for missed life. "

- Peter Rüedi

“It is important to find out the references to other stories and storytellers or to one's own experiences in order to expose Federspiel's poems layer by layer. The subtleties and subtle distinctions of the reviewer, who gladly took the trouble of 'patient reading' and who praises Federspiel's 'tone of waking melancholy'. "
