Peter Rüedi

Peter Rüedi (born January 15, 1943 in Basel ) is a Swiss journalist and dramaturge .

Life

After early childhood, Peter Rüedi grew up in Milan and Como in Arbon in the canton of Thurgau . After graduating from high school in Frauenfeld , he studied German at the University of Basel from 1961 , particularly with Walter Muschg .

In 1966 he became editor of the Zürcher Woche and its Sunday journal (1968–72). In 1974 he became head of the culture department at Weltwoche . In 1980 he switched from journalism to work as a dramaturge in Berlin at the Schillertheater until 1982 . Between 1982 and 1989 he was chief dramaturge at the Schauspielhaus Zürich . Since then, Rüedi has mainly worked for Weltwoche : from 1994 to 1996 he edited the literary supplement Weltwoche Supplement , and currently writes weekly columns on jazz and wine. He occasionally writes CD reviews for Die Zeit .

In 1990 he co-founded the cultural foundation of the canton of Thurgau, of which he was a member of the board of trustees until 1999. He was also a member of the board of trustees of the Swiss cultural foundation Pro Helvetia between 1985 and 1997 .

After he had published the correspondence between Max Frisch and Friedrich Dürrenmatt at Diogenes Verlag in 1998, his extensive Dürrenmatt biographyDürrenmatt or The Awareness of the Whole ” was published in 2011 .

Rüedi lives in Tremona .
