The film premiered on August 3, 2012 at the Locarno Film Festival . The film was released in German-speaking Switzerland on September 20 and 2013 in French -speaking Switzerland . The film was broadcast on Swiss television on November 13, 2013.
The film triggered violent reactions and became a much-discussed work at the Locarno Film Festival in 2012.

Tax dispute, banking secrecy and exploitative raw materials companies: Switzerland has an image problem. The two filmmakers Simon and Andreas go on a one-year Tour de Suisse to correct the battered reputation of their home country. Simon and Andreas meet herdsmen and allotment gardeners, journalists and tourists, gold coast villa owners and numerous irritated foreigners. Image Problem is a satirical documentary film that amusingly and with idiosyncratic means exposes the lack of solidarity and the increasing xenophobia in the small state of Switzerland.
