Imke Turner

Imke Turner (* 1963 in Bremen ) is a German music editor and presenter as well as an athlete and world champion in Taekwondo .

biography

Turner studied music education and French in Gießen and Osnabrück. In addition to her studies, she worked as a journalist for Radio Bremen , Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) and various daily newspapers. In 1992 she became music editor at Radio Bremen. Since 2001 she has been the music editor and presenter at Hessischer Rundfunk . She was a member of the jury at competitions several times.

Turner has been training the Korean martial art Tae-Kwon-Do (foot-fist-path) in the field of technology in their club Bremen 1860 since 1994 with the trainer Roland Klein . Even after moving to Frankfurt-Bornheim , she stayed with her Bremen club and trained at the Frankfurt Taekwondo Club Dojang , where she also works as a trainer. She works as a radio presenter at Hessischer Rundfunk and moderates a. a. a breakfast show.

The Taekwondoin took part in over 11 world championships. In her age group she was German, European and world champion in the discipline of technology:

  • She has already won five world championship titles (2007, 2009, 2016, 2018, 2019), three times in synchronism, twice in a row in singles, most recently in 2019 in Taipei ; she was vice world champion a. a. from 2006, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013
  • She was European champion a. a. from 2005 (single), 2017 and 2019
  • She also won a large number of medals at German championships and was German champion over ten times.

She has been the holder of the 6th Dan in Taekwondo since 2017.
