An Indonesian War Jacket (Engl. Was jackets ) is a protective weapon from Indonesia .

description

The Indonesian war jacket comes in many different versions and sizes throughout the Indonesian archipelago . Some versions have special names (see category: armor ), others are simply referred to as war jackets. They are made of different materials such as leather ( Gagong ), ( Kalambi ), fabrics, animal skins , feathers , bones , plant fibers ( Baru Lema'a ), fish scales ( Baju Empurau ), brass plates , tree bark , various shells and skull trophies . Many of these materials are sewn onto a sub- fabric made of leather or braided plant fibers from the Illuk palm . In Nias there are versions made of chain mesh and metal plates ( Baju Lamina , Baju Rantai ) or made entirely of metal ( Baru Oroba ). Breastplates made in Europe and imported to Indonesia were also used. Depending on the design of these jackets, they actually served as protection against arrows and spears or were intended to give the wearer strength or protection through magical powers. The war jacket includes numerous ornaments and decorations that are worn with the jacket (see picture info box). The jackets are often decorated with bright colors, depending on where they come from.
