Industrias La Constancia
Industrias La Constancia (short: ILC ) is the largest brewery in El Salvador . The head office is in San Salvador . The company has been part of AB-InBev since 2016 .
history
The beverage company was founded in 1903 by Rafael Meza Ayau in the Santa Cruz suburb of the city of Santa Ana under the name Rafael Meza Ayau & CIA . The company began in 1906 with four beer brands: Perro, Abeja, Extracto de Malta (malt beer) and Pilsener. In 1920, the founder Rafael Meza Ayau built the first bottling plant for soft drinks in the city of San Salvador .
After negotiations with Coca Cola , Rafael Meza took over the production and distribution of Coca Cola for the whole of El Salvador in 1939. The company Rafael Meza Ayau & CIA was divided into three sub-areas:
- Cervecería La Constancia, brewery in Santa Ana
- Embotelladora Salvadoreña, bottling plant in San Salvador
- Industrias Cristal de Centroamérica, non-alcoholic drinks in San Salvador
Numerous technological changes have been introduced since 1990 that continue to this day, such as fermentation , filtration, filling systems, and computer equipment in all areas of production and sales.
In 2003 the branches and the original name were transferred to Industrias La Constancia SA de CV (short: ILC). At that time, the company's production capacity was already 900 thousand hectoliters of beer per year, but the facilities are designed to expand production to two million hectoliters. In 2005 ILC was acquired by SABMiller . As a result of the merger between AB-InBev and SABMiller, AB-InBev acquired ILC.
