Industriestraße 7 is the name entered in the local register of monuments for a listed former sawmill in Magdeburg .

location

The facility is located in the Magdeburg-Industriehafen district at the northern end of Industriestrasse. The Agneswerder road joins to the east.

Architecture and history

The sawmill was built from 1923 for the Zwickau company Hermann Schubert - Bockwa AG . The construction of the very modern system at the time of construction was carried out by the Stuttgart- based company Kübler .

A three-storey administrative building was created in an expressionist New Building design . At the southwest corner of the building, which was erected on a rectangular floor plan, there is a triangular bay window on the long side in front of the two upper floors, which is designed as a balcony on the top floor. The building is covered with a gable roof .

In addition, an open warehouse with a gable roof was created for storing wood. It has (as of 2009) a prefabricated self-supporting column frame truss construction and is considered an early example of such a construction.

The factory was expanded around 1940. A wash house and a fire pond were built here. A little to the north a two-storey brick building with a hipped roof was built. A courtyard development adjoins this building to the west (as of 2009). With round-arched arcades, buildings for wash, shower and toilet rooms are grouped around a small inner courtyard. The design of the facility is reminiscent of the cloister of a monastery . The fire-fighting pond has been created inside the courtyard. The pond was later used as an outdoor swimming pool .

In the local register of monuments , the sawmill is listed as a historical building under registration number 094 70979 .

Today (as of 2020) the site of the former sawmill is used by Magdeburger Generatorenproduktion GmbH, which is active in the field of wind turbine production.
